Bristol 408

Restoration

In this blog I will share my experiences during restoration of my Bristol 408. The car has been in bits and pieces for many years. Engine, gearbox and rear axle are rebuilt earlier. The journey begins with preparation of the body and chassis before the car is going to the panel beater.

I will clean the parts and use new tubes. The old tubes were cracked at full length.

I am trying to restore the old unit with new gaskets and seal. Fun if it will work. Bought Castor Oil for the leather gaskets.

But I guess I will use a new unit for safety reasons.

Finished the rebuild of the gearbox to the Westfield. It´s done to BGH specification with 2.98 ratio on first gear. All moving parts bought from ebay. Just as new.

I have started the assembly of rear and front axle. The plan is to have the car on wheels at the end of this year
